Gillett’s Callington, which operates more than 60 Spar stores across the south west, has re-opened its flagship convenience store in Callington, Cornwall after a £250k redevelopment project.
The 2,200 sq. ft. site, which has a completely new layout and design, now boasts a Post Office, a butchery section serving locally-sourced meats as well as a newly-branded foodservice section.
Working with Spar UK, the site is the latest fresh concept store tailored to the needs of its locality.
“Store formats play a very important role within our national Growing Together strategy,” said Ian Taylor, Spar UK head of retail.
“Spar Callington is a continuous development of our fresh format strategy and this store is an exciting example of what Spar can offer in the way of fresh food.”
Managing director of Gillett’s Callington Mark Gillett said: “We recognised that our Callington store needed investment and the work we have undertaken has created a stunning state-of-the-art next generation Spar store.”
This was the first store the Gillett family bought when they moved from farming in Lancashire into convenience retailing in Cornwall more than 30 years ago.
