One of the best known names in the UK beer industry has left brewing giant InBev as part of a major restructuring of its senior management team.
Stewart Gilliland was running western Europe for the brewer but he has been replaced by Stéfan Descheemaeker, who was zone president for central and eastern Europe.
Descheemaeker will be taking responsibility for InBev’s business in the UK and Ireland.
In a terse statement, InBev said only that Gilliland had “left the company”. He is believed to be exploring new opportunities in the UK.
As part of the restructuring, Carlos Brito, zone president for North America, becomes CEO replacing John Brock, whose three-year contract is ending. Brito joined Ambev in 1990 and was appointed CEO in January 2004, prior to



Dr Jon Bell, chief executive and chief scientific adviser of the Food Standards Agency, is leaving when his contract ends in April. The FSA is making plans to recruit a successor.
Majestic Wine has promoted retail director Steve Lewis to the post of chief operating officer, while Justin Apthorp has joined the board as buying director. Apthorp has managed Majestic’s buying department since 2002.
John Warren, former group finance director of WH Smith, has been appointed as independent non-executive director of Arla Foods UK. He succeeds Peter Cawdron, who retires from the role this month.
Unilever Foodsolutions UK has appointed Simon Marshall as MD. He joins from Unilever Home and Personal Care in Ireland, where he was also MD. Marshall takes over from Calum Ross, who moved to Brazil last month to head up Unilever’s foodservice operation in Latin America.
