Spirits startup Wattshot has inked a deal with Bright Drinks to distribute its gin which is specifically designed for shots.
The Cheltenham-based business has signed a “multi-year” deal with a “six-figure” support package for the exclusive marketing and distribution of Wattshot in the UK with Bright Drinks, it said today (30 May 2022).
The 37.5% abv gin originally launched into the on-trade and e-commerce channels across Europe last year. Flavoured with cherry blossom, it is intended to be served as a chilled shot.
It contains eight botanicals and was inspired by founder Stuart Logan’s love of sweets as a child, said Bright Drinks.
A “secret herbal ingredient” added a unique layer to the drink, creating a cool mouthfeel coupled with a clean, botanical flavour, it added.
It has launched via the brand’s webstore (rsp: £34.90/700ml) and will appear at various events and trade shows this summer.
Bright Drinks head of marketing Sophie Caley said Wattshot was “going to be a game-changer in how we drink gin”.
“In a post-pandemic world, with consumers increasingly looking for joyful products that amplify flavours, colours and aromas, Wattshot has even greater consumer pull,” she said.
Bright Drinks co-founder Will Coates said: “We tested the market with sampling in venues across the south west and were blown away by the consumer and trade response.”
The reaction to Wattshot had been “incredibly positive so far”, he added.
