The growth is down to a combination of increased demand, particularly in the functional energy and water categories, and to the increased range and space BP has given to these growth categories.
This has enabled us to outperform current market trends in the growth categories and has given us significant incremental sales.
At the same time we have maintained the overall space and number of stocked items.
The popularity of energy drinks has led two of the major manufacturers to introduce new products into the UK market, with Coca-Cola and Britvic launching Powerade and Gatorade respectively.
Mineral water sales in particular enjoy seasonal growth in the summer months, but the product is consistently high in the top-seller charts all year round.
Another area of significant growth for BP is in bulk sales, for example we are now offering 12-packs of Red Bull and Coca-Cola, and recent buy-one-get-one-free promotional offers on water have been a fantastic success.
