The new site will replace its previous UK HQ, which burnt down in January 2023

Italian dairy giant Granarolo is making its largest-ever investment in the UK with a £10m new head office and distribution centre in Willenhall in the West Midlands.

The investment comes in the wake of a devastating fire at the site in January 2023 which destroyed Granarolo’s previous UK HQ. The new head office is set to open in Q4 of 2025, with built-in flexibility for future expansion to accommodate growing business needs.

The rebuilt site will also be used by Granarolo subsidiary and food wholesaler Midland Chilled Foods. The “transformative project” will provide a larger footprint for expansion and future development, said the business – which imports a host of Italian dairy products into the UK market.

Designed to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer engagement, the new facility features advanced frozen, chilled, and ambient storage and distribution capabilities, boasting space for over 4,500 pallets.

The facility will also include modern office spaces for our team as well as a dedicated new product development and test kitchen – which would serve “as an innovation hub for customer presentations and collaborations”, Granarolo said.

“We are thrilled to unveil our plans for this new facility, which underscores our commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability,” said Anthony Bosco, CEO of Granarolo UK.

“This investment not only propels our operational capabilities forward but allows us to better serve our clients and engage with them in meaningful ways.”

Sustainability was at the core of the new development, the supplier added, with various environmental initiatives integrated into the construction. The installation of solar panels was projected to reduce the company’s carbon dioxide emissions by over 50 tonnes each year, reflecting the company’s “commitment to a greener future”, it said.
