Snack producer Graze this week added listings in more than 1,000 Tesco Express stores, as retailers expand their healthy snacking ranges.
This takes the total number of Graze’s stockists to 4,000. In the past 15 weeks, it has rolled out to all 1,161 Sainsbury’s stores, and WH Smith has doubled the outlets stocking the brand from 330 to 689. Graze is also available in Waitrose, Asda and Boots stores.
“We are talking to lots of people,” said Graze CEO Anthony Fletcher.
Fletcher said retail now accounted for more than 10% of sales and he expected this could eventually become larger than its online business. Graze sells 12 snack lines in stores compared with the 200 it offers online.
“In some of these retailers, until recently, they have failed to cater for health. Graze is riding on the back of that because it is picking up a lot of incremental buyers who don’t just want a chocolate bar,” said Fletcher.
Graze believes pressure for sweet-free checkouts is likely to further accelerate growth. The company increased sales by 29% to £68m in the year to 28 February, with this expected to rise further now it is listed in major retailers.
