Logistics company Great Bear Distribution has appointed Alastair Isbister as its new CEO.
Isbister will report to Thomas van Mourik, CEO of Great Bear Distribution’s owner Culina Group.
He has worked in the logistics industry for 27 years, holding senior positions at DHL Supply Chain, Tradeteam and Exel, which became DHL.
He joins Great Bear at a landmark period in the company’s growth with the opening of the UK’s first tri-modal logistics facility in Port Salford, which can transport freight by rail, road and sea. The 280,000 sq ft will create 280 jobs. The company is also developing a one million sq ft logistics complex at Markham Vale, Chesterfield, which is expected to generate a further 800 jobs.
“Growing the Great Bear business and continuing to always provide fantastic service to our customers is my goal,” said Isbister. “I am really looking forward to helping to take Great Bear Distribution to the next level. It is an exciting opportunity at a really interesting time in UK logistics.”
Van Mourik said: “It’s a fantastic period for our company. These are truly exciting times at Culina Group. I am absolutely confident that Alastair has the ideas, the charisma, and the energy to help us take the group on to even greater heights.”
