The Great British Biscotti Co is to roll out home compostable packaging across its twin-pack range.
The brand’s new packaging is made from “natural, renewable materials” including wood pulp, and has been certified as compostable in both industrial and home environments. It is also suitable for anaerobic digestion.
Great British Biscotti founder Paul Rostand said the brand planned to roll out the packaging across its entire range over the remainder of the year.
The brand is also due to launch its first vegan and gluten-free biscotti next month, which uses a “secret flour blend” with coconut oil in place of dairy fat.
Two flavours will roll out: Dark Belgian Chocolate & Cranberries and Almond, Hazelnut & Orange.
They would launch “as soon as Covid-19 restrictions ease”, said Rostand, and will be available in the twin-pack format (rsp: £1.30/45g) as well as a 100g pack (rsp: £2.99).
