GreggsxFenwick-24

Greggs is opening its first ever Champagne bar, in Newcastle’s Fenwick department stor, to bring customers “the most premium Greggs” experience.

The menu will feature Greggs’ savoury bakes and rolls, served with an “elevated selection” of condiments alongside a list of Fenwick Food Hall’s Champagnes.

It follows the “phenomenal success” of a Greggs bistro launched at the Newcastle venue in 2023. Over 1,700 steak bakes were sold at the bistro last year.

The humble sausage roll will receive a revamp, served alongside the Champagne with a hot honey chilli sauce.

Customers will also be able to buy Greggs’ sweet treats, from yum yum twists to a specially made cream éclair and peach melba.

“Whilst Champagne and Greggs might not be the most immediate food and drink pairing, following the success of and reaction to our Greggs Bistro last year, we’re excited for the launch of the Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick,” said Greggs customer director Hannah Squirrell.

“Hopefully everyone who visited us last year, and many more, will enjoy the fun and unique experience that’s been created and discover that a chilled glass of Champagne accompanied by a sausage roll will be the hottest ticket in Toon for 2024.”

Fenwick strategic partnerships director Leo Fenwick said: “After the phenomenal success of last year’s Bistro Greggs at Fenwick, we are proud to once again partner with fellow north-east icon, Greggs, to launch Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick.”

“This pop-up enhances our growing restaurant offer, which continues to evolve through unexpected collaborations and new concepts, bringing customers a truly memorable in-store dining experience.”

Greggs will operate the pop-up bar for a limited time, from 24 October until 31 December, and on a reservation-only basis.
