Grenade is moving into frozen.
The brand, which was snapped up by Mondelez last week in a £200m deal, has created a duo of ice cream bars – White Chocolate Cookie and Peanut Nutter – under its Carb Killa brand.
The bars contain 6.5g - 6.9g of protein, less than 1.7g sugar and come in at 120 and 137 calories respectively. They will launch into Tesco and Blakemore-owned convenience stores in packs of four (rsp: £5).
White Chocolate Cookie comprises vanilla protein ice cream with a chocolate sauce, cookie crumb and white chocolate coating, while Peanut Nutter pairs caramel protein ice cream with roasted peanuts and a milk chocolate coating.
The bars were “ideal as a post-workout snack or just a low sugar treat to enjoy in the sun”, said Grenade.
Grenade head of product Rob Page said the brand was “delighted to be able to offer the same great taste in an even ‘cooler’ form”.
“Having received countless requests over the years, we expect consumer appetite to be high, so we may well launch additional flavours later down the line.”
It’s the latest in a swathe of NPD from the brand over recent years: 2020 saw it roll out a trio of oat-based protein snacks, while in 2019 it made its debut in energy drinks with its own sugar-free contender.
