Grey Goose is hoping to tap the vogue for spritz-style drinks with a new range of Essences spirits.
The range comprises a trio of 30% abv flavours – Strawberry & Lemongrass, Watermelon & Basil and White Peach & Rosemary – as well as two RTD cans blending the spirits with sparkling water, juice and flavourings.
The brand is playing up their low-calorie credentials: per 50ml, the core spirits contain 82 calories, while the 250ml cans ring in at 79 calories.
The flavours themselves were “derived from some of the freshest fruits and highest-quality botanicals from around the world, in locations such as France, Spain, Thailand and Sri Lanka,” said Grey Goose, and were selected by the brand’s cellar master Francois Thibault.
The fruits were picked “at the peak of their ripeness” before being blended with cold-distilled botanicals and Grey Goose vodka.
The brand said they would allow shoppers to “create great-tasting cocktails with ease and convenience”. It is recommending they be served with soda over ice.
“Spritzes and drinks featuring botanicals have been growing trends,” said Grey Goose global VP of marketing Martin de Dreuille, adding shoppers were “increasingly trying their hand at mixology”.
The NPD would “take the guesswork out of mixing light-tasting and delicious cocktails at home”, he said.
The spirits range will hit Waitrose, Tesco, Majestic and Costco from April (rsp: £39/700ml), while the RTDs will begin to hit shelves from June.
Grey Goose certainly isn’t the only brand hoping to cash in on the trend over recent years. The likes of Jacob’s Creek and Pinkster, too, have unveiled spritz-style NPD.
