Simon Ross, manager of Sainsbury's Linlithgow store in West Lothian, said that good communication was key to winning this week's The Grocer 33's Top Store Award.
"I talk the same talk with all my staff, right from our part-timers through to senior duty managers. We are all on the same wavelength, all working to the same common cause, and that is reflected in the great results picked up by The Grocer 33."
Ross has managed the Linlithgow store and its 140-strong team of staff for just over one year now, and is thoroughly enjoying the experience.
"I love it! Each and every one of my members of staff is fantastic. They are all highly focused and dedicated individuals, and have made delivering consistently high levels of customer service and availability exceptionally easy.
"Sales have soared over the last year, and we are consistently meeting all the targets that head office sets."
