This year’s GroceryAid Christmas carol service has raised £60,000.
The annual event, which took place on 12 December, saw a professional choir sing a selection of festive songs, alongside readings from grocery industry leaders.
These industry heavyweights were Sally Abbott, managing director of Weetabix; Judith Batchelar, director of Sainsbury’s brand; Jane Lawrie, group communications director at Tesco; Carol Robert, chief operating officer of Lucozade Ribena Suntory, and Ross Warnes, sales director UK of the Kraft Heinz Company.
The concert was held to raise funds for former or current grocery professionals in need. The charity helps those who need additional support such as financial guidance or crisis grants.
It was followed by a champagne and canapé reception at The Chelsea Gardener for guests to network with one another.
“As ever, the GroceryAid Carol Concert was a beautiful event - such a peaceful, warm-spirited and connected evening for an industry that can be so demanding,” said Abbott. “It’s great to know that our efforts are helping others in need, particularly at this special time of the year.”
