The raffle is open to anyone who works in the food and drink supply sector

GroceryAid is inviting workers from across the sector to “give back” through the launch of its first-ever industry-wide raffle.

Launching to celebrate GroceryAid Day on 8 May, grocery workers from delivery drivers to shop floor staff will have the chance to buy or donate tickets for its ‘Win Your Summer’ raffle.

Tickets cost £1.50, with funds being donated towards the charity’s ongoing programme of support for food and drink industry workers. The raffle runs until 31 May.

“GroceryAid Day is the one day of the year when the industry comes together to raise awareness of the free and confidential financial, emotional and practical support available to grocery colleagues,” said GroceryAid CEO Kieran Hemsworth.

“But this year it’s so much more than that. This raffle is an opportunity to give back to grocery colleagues who give so much to their communities, with a summer of mini-perks and treats including family theme park trips, £1,000 worth of groceries and a summer’s supply of snacks, drinks and essentials.”

Organisations or individuals looking to participate should contact their GroceryAid relationship manager, or the charity directly via raffle@groceryaid.org.uk.

“Whether you’re buying at ticket for yourself or for your whole organisation to give back to your team, it’s more than having the opportunity to win a prize, you’re donating to GroceryAid and supporting colleagues nationwide,” Hemsworth continued.

“Every ticket sold directly funds our ability to support more people through tough times. We’re immensely grateful to our supporters who have generously donated such fantastic prizes.”

It comes as the charity looks to “massively increase” the amount of support it provides workers in the sector, amid soaring demand for its services. The charity provides financial grants, practical support and emotional guidance to anyone working in the grocery supply chain, and saw inquiries increase by 93% between April 2023 and March 2024. Hemsworth said pressures as a result of the cost of living crisis were primarily to blame.

In March, GroceryAid’s annual ball raised over £700,000. It is hoping to build on that after changing the venue of its annual Barcode Festival, in a move to double the capacity in attendance. Barcode 2025 will take place at Kenwood House in London on 3 July 2025.
