GroceryAid is offering a new grant for apprentices in need of extra financial support when undertaking an industry apprenticeship.

It is offering up to £520 a year for up to four years towards costs such as living and travel expenses, accommodation, study materials and equipment.

GroceryAid, which works with the Food and Drink Federation and The National Skills Academy, said the focus was to identify and help those people starting out on their careers and to help encourage a throughflow of talent into the sector.

“Our focus here is on the younger generation and ensuring their apprenticeship is supported as much as possible,” said GroceryAid director general Gillian Barker.

She said she was delighted the grant would help people who were “the future of the grocery industry”.
