The desserts will roll into Co-op on 8 April (rsp: £3.95/two)

Gü has expanded its range of chilled desserts with a trio of cake pots.

Victoria Sponge, Chocolate Fudge and Coffee & Hazelnut combine soft sponge with layers of crème, mousse and crunch for an “elevated” take on cake.

Victoria Sponge features vanilla sponge with a pinch of Guérande salt, layered with raspberry compote, mascarpone crème and a biscuit sprinkle.

Chocolate Fudge contains chocolate sponge topped with chocolate crème and milk chocolate mousse.

Finally, Coffee & Hazelnut is made up of coffee sponge, layered with hazelnut praline crème, a dash of Sicilian marsala wine and a sprinkle of cocoa biscuit.

The desserts will roll into Co-op on 8 April (rsp: £3.95/two), followed by Tesco and Sainsbury’s on 30 April, and Morrisons on 14 May. Victoria Sponge will also hit Tesco Express stores.

They would fill a gap in the category for premium cake lines, said Gü, adding that their “bright” pack designs marked “a visual departure from Gü’s signature black branding”.

“This is one of our most exciting launches yet, a true innovation that brings Gü’s signature indulgence to one of the UK’s favourite formats,” said Gü product director Adrienne Barrett.

Gü launched a trio of frozen desserts, Sundaes, into Waitrose in June.

Last month, it rolled out bright pink packaging across its most popular lines to coincide with the release of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The on-pack promotion offered shoppers the chance to win a luxury city break for two.
