Diageo will drop the Guinness UDV name from its UK subsidiary in July. In its place will be the new title of Diageo Great Britain.
The business was formed when GrandMet and Guinness merged operations and combined United Distillers and International Distillers and Vintners. However, the business has since been restructured and been disposing of its non-drinks operations.
A spokesman said: "Since we closed the Pillsbury deal and made clear our intention to separate from Burger King, we have been in the process of creating a focused premium drinks operation."
The completion of the Seagram takeover with Pernod Ricard underlined this focus.
