Consumer health giant Haleon has appointed Jo Cooper as its new general manager for the UK & Ireland.
Cooper brings 10 years’ experience in senior leadership positions across sales and commercial roles in the consumer healthcare industry. She had “a strong track record in accelerating business growth across several international markets”, said Haleon.
Prior to her appointment, she held the position of head of commercial excellence for Europe, Middle East, Africa & Latin America (EMEA&LATAM) at Haleon for more than three years. In that role, she was responsible for revenue growth strategy, category management, shopper marketing, and retail partner leadership across Haleon’s multi-brand portfolio – as well as leading the company’s global net revenue management acceleration programme, working closely with digital and tech teams.
Cooper started her career in consumer healthcare with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSK) in 2013, as pharmacy & field director. She went on to hold several positions at the company, including grocery & digital commerce sales director and commercial excellence director, before joining Haleon in 2021 as part of its spin-off from GSK.
In her latest role, effective now, she has replaced Bas Vorsteveld. He was “yet to announce his new role”, according to Haleon.
“I am delighted to have Jo leading the Haleon UK & Ireland business,” the supplier’s general manager for northern Europe, Jon Workman, said. “She brings outstanding experience and an incredible track record in strong leadership positions. After playing such a critical role in delivering the EMEA&LATAM commercial agenda over the last three years, her experience, relationship with retail partners and growth mindset is perfectly placed to continue to drive the momentum of the UK and Ireland business into the next phase.”
Cooper added: “I am thrilled to take on the role of leading Haleon’s UK & Ireland business, my home market. Having experienced first-hand the exceptional talent and dedication within the UK and Ireland team and northern Europe business unit, I am eager to collaborate and drive the next level of growth together, continuing to develop our vision for delivering consumer-first healthcare.”
