Halewood Wines & Spirits has added a single cask dark rum to its premium Liverpool spirits portfolio.
Inspired by the bustling docks and shipyards of the city in the 17th century, the new 43% abv tipple is distilled on the island of Trinidad and has been aged for 16 years, double matured and then finished in ex-American bourbon barrels to create smooth oaky flavour with spice notes (rsp: £48/70cl).
Liverpool Rum is the third spirit to join the expanding collection, which includes gin and vodka, since Halewood acquired it in May this year for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition followed Halewood buying a 50% stake in The Pogues Irish Whiskey brand in February and forms part of the company’s continued expansion plans, both for the UK and abroad.
