Leading Australian producer Hardys is putting more punch into its boxed wine offering with the launch of two wines from its VR varietal range.
VR Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay were successfully launched last year in bottles and the growth of the bag-in-box market has now prompted the company to put the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz into three-litre boxes (rsp: £14.99).
Brand manager Amelia Nolan said Australian wines increased their share of the boxed sector in the UK from 9.6% to 14.4% last year [ACNielsen, 12 months to end of December].
"The introduction of these new products is a natural progression for the VR range which has a strong consumer following." she said.
"The boxes will cater for the growing demand and will offer good value quality wine," she added.
At the same time the company is adding a Merlot to the bottled range which all retail at £4.49.
