Indian food entrepreneur Hari Ghotra has launched a range of curry spice kits.
The 12-strong line-up, available online now alongside Ghotra’s individual spices, comprises classics such as korma, tikka masala and biryani alongside less well-known dishes including xacuti and makhani (rsp: £3.50).
The kits contain a mix of whole and ground spices, each separated into different bags reflecting the various stages of the cooking process, with more than 30 herbs and spices used across the range.
Ghotra said the kits, unlike existing Indian spice blends, sauces and pastes, would help people recreate the cooking process the majority of Indians use in their homes every day, from “toasting spices, to grinding and crushing”.
“My aim is to offer people a stress-free alternative to convenience food and bring the theatre of creating Indian food to life,” she said.
A QR code on each kit directs consumers to Ghotra’s website, where they can access step-by-step recipe videos.
Ghotra, who launched an online portal aimed at “demystifying Indian food” and making it easily accessible to people at home, said she was currently in talks with retailers to secure listings.
