Jacksons Stores has recruited Costcutter's trading manager to drive impulse sales.
Kevin Harrison will take up the position of category manager, impulse, and have responsibility for soft drinks, confectionery, crisps, nuts and biscuits.
He will have total control of supply and replenishment, merchandising, positioning, promotions and availability owning products, he said, "from the cradle to the grave."
He intends to focus on key areas such as confectionery and the soft drinks market, and aims to strengthen distribution and compliance. "The key to understanding impulse as an important part of the sales mix is making sure we're at the forefront of the convenience market and right for the consumer," Harrison said.
"Our vision is to provide the right products, the right choice and the right opportunities for our customers."
In his previous post at Costcutter he handled similar categories, plus cigarettes, breakfast cereals and hot beverages.
Harrison worked for the symbol group for four and a half years.
Before that he worked for Nisa Today's for eight years, becoming trading controller for Nisaway.
