A new bottling line at the Harrogate Water plant in North Yorkshire has begun operation.
The line is part of an £8m investment at the site that was completed this year and includes a 23,000sq ft extension to the existing building, more than doubling the size of existing facilities. Harrogate has also installed a Krones bottling system to increase capacity.
New packaging was recently rolled out for the business’s Harrogate Spring water brand, which has also become the official water of the England Cricket team.
The deal, Harrogate Spring’s biggest sponsorship deal to date, will see the brand provide England cricket players with water at every home International, limited overs and 20/20 match. It will also feature during on-pitch drinks breaks and on Sky Sport, as well as in stadium announcements and branding.
New ‘diamond bottles’, which are available across both PET and glass ranges, were designed to portray a more premium feel, the brand said, and were inspired by the history of the Yorkshire spa. The new bottles will carry the England Cricket logo and ‘Official Water of England Cricket’.
The activity was a “major statement of intent” by the company, said Harrogate Water MD James Cain. “The brand’s partnership with the ECB and packaging refresh comes on the back of a progressive move that will quadruple Harrogate Water Brands’ current business output,” he said.
“Since 2002, we’ve achieved annual growth of over 30%, and £10m in turnover,” he added. “To capitalise on this we have invested £8m in a state-of-the-art bottling facility. This will significantly increase our capacity so we can cater for the growing demand.”
