Off-licence chain Unwins has promoted Rob Hart to the position of head of buying.
Hart has worked in the buying department for two years, joining from Balfour Convenience Stores. He was also a buyer for Whistlestop Food & Wine and Oddbins.
Hart replaces David Massey, who has decided to leave the group to pursue other opportunities in corporate finance.
A spokeswoman for Unwins said Massey had been temporarily filling the role following the departure of David Armstrong in April this year.
Unwins said: “The board would like to thank Massey for his contribution to the business and to wish him well in the future.”
Hart’s appointment is Unwin’s second major appointment in the space of a month. Last month the group appointed Darren Williams to the newly created position of head of retail sales (The Grocer, September 3, p12).
