Pricecheck, the Sheffield-based wholesaler of discounted clearance stock, has joined Today’s Group.
The £40m turnover business, which operates predominantly in the health and beauty sectors, has also revealed ambitions to double both sales and staff over the next five years.
The wholesaler, which currently operates from a 100,000 sq ft depot and offices, plans to relocate to larger premises on the outskirts of Sheffield.
Bill Laird, Today’s Group managing director, said Pricecheck was “a fast-growing, forward-thinking business, keen on investment and expansion”.
Retailers, that include discount and independents, pharmacies, internet operators and wholesalers, would benefit from Pricecheck’s competitive price on leading branded goods, combined with the benefits of the UK’s largest buying group’s promotional programme, Laird said.
The news came just days after Pricecheck joint managing directors Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison attended a reception at Buckingham Palace in honour or receiving a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. Harrison said the award recognised the company’s rapid growth in export turnover from £3m in 2009 to £12m in 2014. It exports to more than 50 countries.
