Health food wholesaler Tree of Life has posted sales up 14% to £45m for the year to 31 March.
It distributes 10,000 product lines including organic foods and general health food products and is looking to ramp up its listings with major multiples and symbol chains as part of a multi-channel retail strategy.
It has already secured deals with Asda, Ocado, Tesco Nutricentre and Spar in the past 12 months. “We are in a great place where more conventional multiple retailers are starting to express an interest in us helping them manage a complex category with very little data,” said MD John Weaver. “We can’t declare who we are talking to at the moment but it’s fair to say anybody mainstream in bricks and mortar retail and those in online retail are expressing an interest.”
Weaver said free-from products were proving particularly popular as more consumers were being diagnosed with allergies and food intolerances.
