Heck has launched a pair of limited-edition ‘Christmas Baubles’, which can be used as seasonal meatballs or Christmas dinner sides.
The newcomers come in a Festive Pork with Wensleydale and cranberry variant; and a Traditional Chicken with sage & onion variant, and are available exclusively in Morrisons until the end of the month (rsp: £2.99/12-pack).
The launch comes at the end of a successful year for the brand, which saw value sales grow by 170% to £11.2m.
It is also due to open a new factory at its Yorkshire base in March, which will have the capacity to make 700 sausages a minute.
Heck surged to a 35.7% share of the branded premium sausage category this year, with The Black Farmer second at 16.6%, and Debbie & Andrew’s third at 15.1% [Kantar 52 w/e 9 October].
“The sausage market is in decline, but we have managed to drive growth in the premium category,” said founder Andrew Keeble. “We’ve smashed our targets, and are now listed by all the main supermarkets. What’s good is that we’re not stealing customers away from own label, we’re seeing shoppers trade up from other brands.”
The brand also raised more than £25,000 for the Movember Foundation from its limited edition Check-branded sausages last month, Keeble added. “We’d like to thank Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Booths and Sainsbury’s for the massive support they gave the Check project.”
