Heinz looks set to bring its One Pan frozen meals range to the UK.
The fmcg giant has applied to register the name ‘One Pan’ with the Intellectual Property Office under class 29, covering frozen prepared meals; and class 30, accounting for prepared meals made from rice and couscous.
Heinz debuted the range in Australia in July. It comprises Spanish Style Veg Paella, Italian Style Risotto and Moroccan Style Couscous.
The 600g meals are intended to serve two people and can be pan-cooked in 10-11 minutes.
The Grocer has approached Heinz for comment.
It comes as Heinz has spent recent weeks making concerted efforts to capitalise on a move into the frozen aisles.
In September, for instance, it rolled out a trio of Beanz branded frozen ready meals.
Three flavours inspired by “international cuisine” – Herby Tomato, Fragrant Coconut and Smoky Chilli – rolled into Asda and Ocado (rsp: £2.50/400g-440g).
Not all of Heinz’s ventures into new categories have been successful, however.
Its chilled Beanz Protein Pots disappeared from sale after less than two years on the market – having made just £143k in the 12 months since launch [NielsenIQ 52 w/e 1 January 2022].
