Heinz is relaunching its Farmers' Market soups in a smaller format aimed at lunchtime consumers.

The range is currently sold in a 515g format (rsp: £1.19) but will be moving to a slimline 400g can (rsp: £1.09) from the beginning of next month. Heinz will also be adding three flavours and a new label highlighting how many of a consumer's five-a-day the soup contains.

"We have reduced the size to tap into new customers as well as reach our existing customer base with a more suitable lunchtime option," said brand manager Ruth Carberry.

Heinz admitted customers will be paying more per gram in the new format, which it said had been driven by increased commodity costs, but added that the typical vegetable content of the soups had increased.
