Heinz could be set to launch a line of seasonings called Flavourhood.
It has applied to register the name as a trademark with the International Property Office under class 30, covering salts, seasonings, flavourings and condiments; and class 35, accounting for retail services relating to food and drink products.
Heinz declined to comment when approached by The Grocer.
It comes after the baked beans behemoth has spent recent months expanding into new categories, in a bid to widen its appeal and lure younger shoppers to the brand.
Heinz unveiled chilled Beanz Houmouz in May, for instance, which is made using haricot beans rather than chickpeas.
In February, it debuted a line of pasta sauces showcasing “innovative, exploratory flavours”.
Late last year, it quietly launched a range of sauces specifically intended to accompany plant-based meals.
Not all of its innovation efforts have been successful, however. Beanz Protein Pots disappeared from sale last month after less than two years on the market.
The pots struggled to make a dent in retail, pulling in just £143k in the 12 months since launch [NielsenIQ 52 w/e 1 January 2022].
