Soldiers’ charity Help for Heroes is to make its debut in the dairy aisle with two new products produced in partnership with Wyke Farms.
The charity has joined forces with the Somerset cheesemaker to launch Salted Butter for Heroes and Mature Cheddar for Heroes, both of which will be Help for Heroes-branded and not carry the Wyke brand.
Under the tie up, three pence from each packet of butter sold and seven pence from each pack of cheese will go towards Help for Heroes Trading Limited, which contributes all of its taxable profits to the Help for Heroes charity.
Help for Heroes had been looking for some time at how quality dairy products could support the charity and was “delighted” with the Wyke Farms launches, said Lizzie Neyland, Help for Heroes head of corporate relationships.
“The opportunity to raise funds through the sale of products in this category will make a real difference to the charity”, she said.
Wyke had deliberately kept imagery on the products simple by featuring stretcher bearers and usage occasions instead of branding, added Wyke Farms managing director Rich Clothier.
“It’s about ‘Help for Heroes’, encouraging people to spare a thought for those who have made personal sacrifices, and raising money for this fine charity at the same time,” he said.
The products were competitively priced for consumers while also delivering a sustainable price to Wyke and its milk suppliers, he added.
There are already a number of Help for Heroes-endorsed products on the market, including eggs, whisky and Alf Turner sausages - the brand that recent received investment from star of Dragons’ Den Peter Jones.
The Cheddar carries on rsp of £3 for a 350g pack and the butter, rsp £1 for a 200g block.
