Henderson Foodservice has acquired Independent Catering Services in Northern Ireland.
ICS, which is based in Newry, supplies chilled and ambient products to caterers in Northern Ireland but also has a significant client base in the Irish republic.
Henderson said it planned to transfer ICS’s operations to its Mallusk site by March and hoped all ICS employees would either transfer to Mallusk or be offered suitable alternative roles within the Henderson group.
“With an annual turnover of over £10m, ICS is a very successful food distribution company that has demonstrated great growth potential, particularly in the south of Ireland,” said Henderson managing director Damien Barrett.
“There is obvious synergy between our two companies and this acquisition will bring added value to the ICS customer base through our chilled and frozen capability and additional product ranges whilst ICS’s strength in the southern Irish market will add a new dynamic to our customer network,” said.
