Hilton Foods Solutions has purchased a 25% shareholding of Hampshire-based butcher brand Alf Turner Sausage Company.
The business, a division of protein giant Hilton Food Group, said the 25% stake would enable it to better access the DTC channel.
It hopes that the partnership will make it the partner of choice for customers and bring in a new audience for the brand through Alf Turner’s social media following.
Alf Turner was established in 2010 by Paul Turner from the award-winning Aldershot family butchers establsihed by his grandfather, and gained investment from Peter Jones on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2012.
The company has since launched products across multiple categories within both retail and wholesale, including its Dragon’s egg scotch egg, and now plans to diversify the brand into different channels.
“I’m beyond excited at the opportunity to work in partnership with Hilton Food Solutions,” said Turner. “They pride themselves on being able to maintain long-standing customer and supplier relationships.
“This investment is all about diversifying across different channels as well as the products we can offer consumers,” added Hilton Food Solutions MD Peter Hounsome. “This is another step towards our goal of being the partner of choice for customers across the UK and on a global scale.”
Hilton had been “as invested in the brand as my own family, which is paramount for this brand to succeed”, Turner said.
Alf Turner has been an official charity partner of Help for Heroes since 2010 and through direct donations from every product sale has donated more than £250,000 to the charity.
“I look forward to sharing my team’s passion, expertise and reputation of success to grow the Alf Turner brand, which will only increase the direct donations towards Help for Heroes,” added Hounsome.
