Holland & Barrett and Ocado Retail have launched a new ‘shop within a shop’ partnership.
It makes the health and wellness chain the first major high street retailer, other than part-owner M&S, to list own-label products with Ocado.
From 2 January, around 300 of H&B’s own-label vitamins, supplements, health & beauty and food products will be available via a dedicated marketplace landing page on Ocado’s website. Once selected, products are delivered as part of the shopper’s standard Ocado grocery shop.
“We already have a great range of health and wellness products – including branded, Ocado own brand and of course M&S – but with many customers looking for even more choice in this area, we are delighted to now add Holland & Barrett, a specialist in this space and a well-respected and trusted high street retailer,” said Ocado chief commercial officer Amit Chitnis.
“This partnership allows our customers to get everything for their nutrition and wellness needs conveniently delivered by Ocado, from apples to ashwagandha.”
The product mix had been curated to cater to a wide variety of “health shopping missions”, Chitnis added.
“Whether it’s adding vitamins and minerals staples to the weekly shop, discovering products such as vitamin B6 and magnesium in trending areas like women’s health, friendly bacteria for the gut microbiome or sports supplements tailored to your workout, we hope this partnership will make it easier than ever for customers to shop for their holistic wellbeing and reach their goals.”
To celebrate the launch, many of the H&B products will be offered on discount throughout January, as part of Ocado’s Hello January sales event.
It makes Ocado the latest supermarket to partner with Holland & Barrett, which has physical concessions in dozens of Tesco stores under a partnership that first launched in 2016. It will also expand concessions partnerships with Next, and in independent garden centres, over the next year as part of its ongoing store rollout.
The tie-up also coincides with a major food and drink launch, as part of H&B’s ongoing category overhaul, that began in September 2023.
Around 90 new own-label lines and 200 new branded lines will launch into Holland & Barrett stores from January.
“The partnership with Ocado is an exciting moment for our business as we look to make health and wellness a way of life for everyone, adding quality years to life,” said Guy Farmer, Holland & Barrett commercial trading director.
“With a carefully selected range of own brand products, our work with Ocado will complement the great work we are both already doing to grow the health and wellness market bringing new innovative products across vitamins, supplements, food and sport nutrition to more customers.
“This is just the first step in what we see as a strategic partnership for H&B and represents a key part of our ambitious transformation strategy, as we look to become our customers’ first choice for wellness products, advice and solutions.”
