Holland’s Pies has extended its meat-free range with a new mince and gravy pie as it seeks to lure vegetarian shoppers.
The pre-baked pastry is made from wheat protein cooked in a “rich onion and thyme gravy” and encased in “lightly glazed shortcrust”.
The Vegetarian Mince & Gravy Pie can be microwaved in three minutes and is available across Tesco as individual chilled pies (rsp: £1.10) and frozen four-packs (rsp: £3.20).
“Our meat-free range has extended rapidly over the past few months – with over half of Brits reducing their meat consumption, we saw a real opportunity to tap into this trend,” said Leanne Holcroft, Holland’s Pies brand manager.
“Variety is one of the top challenges faced by those who choose not to eat meat, so we hope this provides a tasty alternative for those in the mood for a pie just in time for winter.”
The new flavour joins the Lancashire firm’s existing Cheese & Onion and Cheese & Veg line-up.
Last month, Holland’s Pies joined forces with Wyke Farms to launch a new deep fill mature cheddar cheese and onion pie.
