Bakehouse, best known for supplying frozen continental pastries and bread to instore bakeries and foodservice outlets, is launching its first bake-at-home range aimed at consumers.
Available in Tesco freezers and priced at £1.79, the Café Simple collection includes eight-packs of mini croissants and mini pain au chocolat, each of which bakes in 20 minutes.
Manufactured in France, the products are made using patented technology called Bake Up, and are designed to rise in the oven while baking, so they can be supplied frozen flat.
MD Chris Smail said the launch represented a “massive” investment for the company. “This is just the start,” he said. “We believe there is huge potential for quality, easy bake-at-home products like these.”
