The Butcher & Grill is a butcher's shop, restaurant and bar, all rolled into one by owners Dominic Ford and Paul Grout, former colleagues from Harvey Nichols' food division. Ford, whose portfolio also includes Obika Mozzarella Bar in Selfridges, set up the food and restaurant division at Harvey Nicks following experience with Mandarin Oriental, L'Escargot and Hilaire. Head butcher Ian Mortimore and head chef David Massey are also Harvey Nicks alumni.

The menu comes in a deceptively simple format: you make your selection of meat from the butcher's shop, or pick a favourite French or English cut from the menu, perhaps spatchcocked poussin or a Barnsley chop. Then take your pick of sides, such as Lyonnaise potatoes, endive with mustard dressing or plain mash, topped off with traditional sauces, from HP to salsa verde or Béarnaise. Or just go for a simple ham and pickle butty, pie or oxtail soup in the bar. The restaurant can cater for 58 people, while the bar can take 38. For those who like things a bit al fresco, there's space for 10 seats on the terrace. A wholesale service to local restaurants is also available.
