United Biscuits is hoping to eat into the tortilla-style market, which it claims is worth £100m and growing by 11% year-on-year.
It has added a Mexican-inspired selection of crisps to its Hula Hoops range, which will be made from corn and have a “tortilla texture” as well as traditional tortilla flavours. Two multipacks have been launched, one containing six nacho cheese flavour packs and the other a mixture of cool original, chilli salsa and nacho cheese flavours, rsp £1.65.
“Mexican flavours are enjoying a renaissance and retailers should look to take advantage of this range,” said UB UK commercial manager Nick Stuart.
