A new brand of micro leaf herbs has been launched by Humber VHB, the UK's biggest herb supplier. Wow! micro leaves have been named to reflect the reaction of consumers on eating them, the company claimed.
The range is grown exclusively in the UK and includes 16 herb and salad leaves such as Thai Basil, Red Amaranth, Red Mustard 'Frills' and Shiso. They are being targeted at premium sandwich and prepared salad suppliers. Micro leaves are young versions of salad leaves or herbs nurtured for their colour and flavour. They are harvested after 12 to 20 days, and are regarded as containing a high concentration of beneficial phytochemicals.
"We've been supplying micro leaf for a while and thought it was time to give the product a name that reflects the impact on tasting," said product manager James Seymour.
The expanded range follows a multimillion pound investment by Humber VHB and Westland Nurseries in a new facility in Evesham.
