Four Hunt’s Food Group drivers have completed a trip across Europe to deliver essential supplies to Ukraine.
The drivers loaded two lorries with items including toiletries, nappies and sleeping bags before transporting them to a warehouse on the Polish border.
They were collected the next day and distributed to Ukrainian refugees.
The men were inspired to offer their support to refugees after discovering the ‘Help the Ukraine Taunton’ Facebook page. They then approached Hunt’s senior team, who provided them with the necessary resources to complete the journey.
“We are so proud of our drivers who have committed their time to organise and take this trip on their own initiative,” said Hunt’s Food Group MD Thomas Hunt.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have been able to support them in their trip by providing the vehicles and the resource to travel to Poland. We know it will have made such a difference to those in need.”
Keith Snook, one of the drivers and a logistics manager at Hunt’s, said: “It was wonderful to be able to do our bit to help the people of Ukraine who were so in need of the supplies we were able to take over. The support we had from the business was fantastic and we couldn’t have carried out this journey without it.”
