Imperial Tobacco said trading for the year was in line with the group’s expectations.
The maker of Embassy, Lambert & Butler and Superkings, said the group’s UK market share was now 44.1%.
Chief executive Gareth Davis said: “Overall, the group has continued to perform well and we are well placed to deliver another year of growth.”
In Germany, the group awaits a decision on the proposed tax increases, with a final decision expected in October.
While trading in the rest of Europe was “buoyant”, Davis said the rest of the world contains a number of “volatile markets”.
Full year results for the period ending September 30 will be announced on November 17.
