Lo leaves Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's head of corporate affairs Helen Lo has left the company after seven months in the role. She arrived at Sainsbury's from Unilever, where she was head of corporate social responsibility and sustainability for Unilever UK. She has also been head of corporate affairs for Unilever UK's ice cream and frozen food division. Lo was head of marketing for the National Farmers' Union before joining Unilever in 2002.
Asda restructure
Asda's environment manager Ian Bowles has left to "take time out". His move follows the arrival of new corporate affairs director Paul Kelly a few weeks ago. Kelly, who was previously corporate affairs director at caterer Compass Group for six years, is restructuring his team.
Sharp joins SSMG
The Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group (SSMG) has appointed Derek Sharp as business development manager. He joins from Bell Bakers and will be responsible for developing new products and opening new markets.
Minister appointed
Gareth Thomas MP has been appointed new minister for trade and consumer affairs, with responsibility for trade policy, competition issues, EU competitiveness and the single market.
SABMiller shake-up
SABMiller has announced that André Parker, managing director of SABMiller Africa and Asia, and Norman Adami, president and CEO of SABMiller Americas, will be retiring from the company at the end of September. The group's Africa and Asia interests will be split into two management units from 1 October and will be headed by Mark Bowman and Ari Mervis, respectively. The Americas CEO position will not be filled, but the responsibilities of the role will be split up.
