Belgian brewer InBev has announced its plans to cash in on the Russian beer market by striking a E259m (£183m) deal to take over the country’s second leading brewer, Sun Interbrew.
InBev, the maker of Stella Artois, has said it will buy out investment company Alfa-Eco’s 21% share in Sun, which, in addition to a recent buyout of a stake held by Sun Trade, leaves InBev with almost full control of the company.
In August 2004 InBev agreed to buy a 37% stake in Sun Interbrew from its Indian joint venture partner Sun Trade, for E530m.
Sun Interbrew’s leading brand is Klinskoye, followed by its Tolstiak brand.
InBev’s products also include Staropramen and Bass.
