Channel Islands convenience retail group Le Riche has appointed a new trading director, Dean Dawson, to take responsibility for trading, marketing, distribution and supply chains.
Dawson has recently been acting as a consultant to Sainsbury, advising the multiple on the ranges it should stock in its convenience stores. For the previous 10 years, Dawson was trading director at Londis, where he was part of the management team that bought out Betta Stores. He has also been buying and marketing controller at Betta and has worked for Kwik Save, Circle K and Spar.
Le Riche managing director Andrew Bagot said: “We are very pleased to have someone of Dean’s calibre in this key position. We think the respect in which he is held and his knowledge of the market will allow us to build on standards that we already have.”
The group runs 46 stores in the Channel Islands, trading under the names Checkers, Checkers Xpress and Wine Warehouse, as well as operating Checkersplus.com. It has been trading in Jersey since 1818.
