Israeli food technologists are claiming to have produced packaging that can double the shelf life of fresh poultry to eight days.
The new packaging approach, from manufacturer Teva-Off, uses Hera SLB (Shelf Life Booster) technology to allow producers to pack fresh meat and poultry with residual oxygen of under 0.4%, allowing twice the traditional shelf life.
"This is the first fresh poultry product with extended shelf life and we anticipate it will totally change consumer purchasing and cooking behavior," said Amnon Ariel, CEO of Teva-Off.
