Marks and Spencer will not be facing a huge pay out to former managers, the chain has claimed. Former M&S food marketing and design executive Gerry Hodes was unfairly dismissed last year, according to a recent industrial tribunal decision, and is seeking £450,000 compensation. Last week the tribunal found the company unfairly dismissed Hodes during its "management streamlining". He had worked for the company for more than 30 years and controlled a £23m budget. The tribunal has not said how much M&S should pay Hodes. Thirty other senior staff, including Food Group executives Mike Taylor, Hugh Walker, Martin van Zwanenberg, Ken Gillies and Judith Sweetland lost their jobs at the same time and Hodes has suggested they may follow his lead. However M&S spokesman Louis Hill said it is now too late for any of the 30 to file a claim as more than six months have passed since the restructuring. M&S accepts the ruling over Hodes, but doesn't expect compensation to be more than £17,000, he said. {{NEWS }}
