Scottish Courage is turning an eyesore into an opportunity with the introduction of customised covers for beer aisles in 41 Scottish Safeway superstores. They are used at times when the store is open but it is illegal to sell alcohol. This applies particularly to Sunday mornings when alcohol cannot be sold before 12 noon. On weekdays drink can only be sold between 8am and 11pm.
To prevent consumers from attempting to buy alcohol out of hours, anything from black bin liners to ropes are used to close off the section.
Scottish Courage has created a more stylish alternative by providing them with Miller branded beer covers.
Marketing director Brian Sharp said: "This is an innovative idea, and a great way of promoting Miller."
