Jameson is to launch a new Irish whiskey to sit between its Original and Black Barrel variants.
Called Triple Triple Chestnut Edition, the whiskey has been triple-distilled and blended from a combination of ex-bourbon, oloroso sherry and sweet chestnut casks. The resulting 40% abv tipple offered “velvety notes of toffee, cacao and toasted almonds”, said Jameson.
It is the second launch in Jameson’s Triple Triple series, after a variant from ex-bourbon, oloroso sherry and malaga wine casks launched as a global travel retail exclusive last year.
Triple Triple Chestnut Edition has launched on Amazon from today (10 February) and will roll into Morrisons stores from 24 February (rsp: £29/70cl).
The NPD would offer the “signature smoothness” of Jameson “at a price point that sits between Jameson Original and Jameson Black Barrel”, said Ian Peart, UK commercial director at Jameson owner Pernod Ricard.
Jameson sales fell £3.5m on volumes that slid by 12.4% last year, according to data from The Grocer’s Top Products survey [NIQ 52 we 7 September 2024].
Jameson was “one of our blockbuster brands” and had returned to value growth by last month, Peart said, citing data showing the brand grew by 2.5% on volumes down 0.7% [NIQ 52 we 4 January 2025].
“Recruiting consumers remains our number one priority and we’re doing that through the Jameson Ginger & Lime serve, our newly extended premium range, and our long-term partnership with the English Football League,” he said. “The addition of Jameson Triple Triple offers Irish whiskey fans triple the options, just in time for St Patrick’s Day!”
