Mars Chocolate UK sales chief Jamie Dunning is heading to the US to run the confectioner’s M&M’s retail and licensing business.
Dunning, currently VP of sales for Mars Chocolate UK, is relocating to New Jersey after being promoted to head Mars Retail Group in the US, which includes the M&M’s World Stores, global licensing for the M&M’S brand, and the My M&M’s e-commerce business in North America.
Rez Hassan (above), who is managing Mars Chocolate UK out-of-home and wholesale as impulse trading director, will step up to fill the role vacated by Dunning.
Dunning’s career in the confectionery industry began 20 years ago when he joined Cadbury as a graduate, and he gained experience in manufacturing and then sales, where his roles spanned all channels and culminated in him becoming impulse sales director. Dunning joined Mars in April 2011 as sales director for grocery and convenience before his promotion to vice president of sales.
Hassan began his career in field sales at P&G in 2003, before moving to Reckitt Benckiser. He joined Wrigley in 2009, shortly after its acquisition by Mars, where he managed the relationships with Morrisons and Asda. In 2012, he switched to Mars Chocolate UK as traditional impulse trading director.
Both Dunning and Hassan will continue to report to Blas Maquivar, president of Mars Chocolate UK & Global Retail, who praised Dunning for his “energy for developing people and his passion for the confectionery industry”.
Maquivar also said he was pleased to be welcoming Hassan to the chocolate management team. “Rez has a strong foundation of experience in fmcg, a real drive for customer centricity and a talent for building strong teams.”
