A new 200-strong Oriental range arrived on Sainsbury's shelves this week, supported by a dedicated ad starring the multiple's frontman Jamie Oliver.
The products span ready meals, semi-prepared dishes, oriental ingredients and produce. All are aimed at reflecting authentic recipes from across the Orient. Four areas of China are represented Peking, Shanghai and the Canton and Szechuan regions as well as Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam Singapore and Indonesia.
Sainsbury's said the range was a response to the steady increase of interest in new dishes from the Far East.
"The range allows customers not only to enjoy traditional Oriental favourites but also to experiment with new dishes and recipes from unfamiliar regions and countries," said innovation project manager Melissa Addey. Prices range from 69p for water chestnut to £6.99 for Crispy Peking Duck.
